for the period of the summer holidays, we don't run our Wednesday classes. The Dojo will be closed and won't be available on the booking system. We hope you and your family enjoy your summer break!
Jiu-Jitsu is a Martial Art originating from Japan. Often referred to as the gentle art. Its focus is on manipulating your opponent’s strength and energy, rather than using your own strength against them.
The main areas Jiu-Jitsu focuses on are pins, joint locks, and throws. All using your opponent’s strength against them. Modern Jiu-Jitsu still focuses on the same key areas, with throws, locks being at the forefront of what we teach.
We are Neville and Claire and we have been running Rushcroft Jiu-Jitsu club since 1984 at St Andrews in Shaw and founded the IJJO in 2009. We are both passionate about passing on the art of Traditional Jiu-Jitsu to future generations.
Our junior classes are a great place for your children to come and learn a new life skills, self-discipline and self-defence. Our junior classes are run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6:15pm.
Our junior classes are broken down into two sections, the first stage is the warm-up stage, to get the children ready for the rest of the session. We then move on to the syllabus training, where the children are split out into small groups and work on the syllabus for their next grade.
Our senior classes are aimed at everyone from our most experienced Black Belts to people who have never set foot in a Dojo! We offer you a very friendly environment and help you to find the right pace and work at a speed that is right for you. Our senior classes are run every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30pm.
Our classes are broken down into three sections, the first stage is the warm-up stage, which is a great cardiovascular workout, we get your blood pumping and your muscles stretched out ready for the rest of the session. We then move on to a group training session, which focuses on something different every time. We finally move onto the syllabus training, here you will be split out into small groups, usually 2-3 and work on the syllabus for your next grade.
Enjoyed my first time thanks to Andy Blyth, feel knackered now though.
The best club by far and run by two of the nicest people you could ever meet.
Always welcomed with a pleasant reception. A good family run business.
Friendly, caring, encouraging and supportive staff. Our boys love going and are making great progress through the belts. Superb young leaders training and great value. Thank you.
Matthew has been learning Ju Jitsu since 2011 and absolutely loves it - it has helped him build confidence, inner strength, and most of all balance. Since Matthew has very poor hearing problems this means a lot and helped him in a lot of other sports like his love of football. So thank you Rushcroft JJ Club.
Both of my children have been trained by your excellent and friendly staff for years. It's a fantastic, well run, local club for both children and adults. Highly recommended!
The guys at IJJO have been superb, they are so friendly and have been very supportive of me starting back at Jiu-Jitsu after 20 years.
