What is Jiu-Jitsu?

The Independent Jiu-Jitsu Organisation (IJJO) is an organisation that promotes and teaches Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. There are several styles of Jiu-Jitsu including Danzan-ryū Jujitsu and Yōshin-ryū Jujitsu, and over time IJJO has taken influence from these styles to teach Jiu-Jitsu which suits the modern world. The IJJO syllabus incorporates a variety of techniques including throws, joint locks, strikes, and chokes, as well as training in traditional Japanese weapons such as the bo staff, nunchaku, tonfa and katana. It emphasizes practical self-defence techniques that can be used in real-world situations.

Our classes are broken down into three sections, the first stage is the warm-up stage, which is a great cardiovascular workout, we get your blood pumping and your muscles stretched out ready for the rest of the session.
