Jiu-Jitsu – Part of a healthy lifestyle

Something we get asked a lot is

“Will Jiu Jitsu help me lose weight?”

Well, in short, yes, we include a cardiovascular session at the start of all our adult classes, this lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, and after a quick break to rehydrate we move into our syllabus work, which is a great mix of cardiovascular and strength whilst learning and refining your techniques.

So it will assist with weight loss, but only if it is part of a healthy lifestyle.

What is a healthy lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is the choices you make every day, from swapping out a chocolate bar for a slice of melon to getting off the bus a stop early. The key areas on which you should focus are your nutrition, regular exercise, and a good night's sleep.

A physically healthy lifestyle will make you feel stronger, and fitter, increase your energy levels and your body will better fight disease and infection. As well as a physically healthier lifestyle, you also need to make changes to your emotional and spiritual health.

An emotionally healthy lifestyle requires you to focus on positive thoughts, positive self-image and self-supportive attitudes, you need to laugh, smile, and be joyful with yourself and others around you.

A spiritually healthy lifestyle requires calmness internally and within your surroundings, awareness of your own creativity, and believing in yourself and your own knowledge.
