What is Jiu-Jitsu?

The Independent Jiu-Jitsu Organisation (IJJO) is an organisation that promotes and teaches Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. There are several styles of Jiu-Jitsu including Danzan-ryū Jujitsu and Yōshin-ryū Jujitsu, and over time IJJO has taken influence from these styles to teach Jiu-Jitsu which suits the modern world. The IJJO syllabus incorporates a variety of techniques including throws, joint locks, strikes, and chokes, as well as training in traditional Japanese weapons such as the bo staff, nunchaku, tonfa and katana. It emphasizes practical self-defence techniques that can be used in real-world situations.

Junior Classes

Our junior classes are a great place for your children to come and learn a new life skills, self-discipline and self-defence. Our junior classes are run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6:15pm.

Our junior classes are broken down into two sections, the first stage is the warm-up stage, to get the children ready for the rest of the session. We then move on to the syllabus training, where the children are split out into small groups and work on the syllabus for their next grade.

Senior Classes

Our senior classes are aimed at everyone from our most experienced Black Belts to people who have never set foot in a Dojo! We offer you a very friendly environment and help you to find the right pace and work at a speed that is right for you. Our senior classes are run every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30pm.

Our classes are broken down into three sections, the first stage is the warm-up stage, which is a great cardiovascular workout, we get your blood pumping and your muscles stretched out ready for the rest of the session. We then move on to a group training session, which focuses on something different every time. We finally move onto the syllabus training, here you will be split out into small groups, usually 2-3 and work on the syllabus for your next grade.
